For a while now there have been plans kicking around to build a new span between Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario. While this sounds to be a great idea, there is in my view one very large issue that is far more important than making others wealthy. This would be the sorry state of Michigan’s roads, bridges and freeways. It’s an ongoing joke that you can tell when you cross the state line into Michigan as your car will start to bounce and shake from the decades-long lack of road repairs. And some say a bridge is more important?
Oh heck no, Matty. A new bride between Canada and the United States at this location would indeed feed the bank accounts of some lucky folks here at the expense of the people of Michigan. In a way I think this is partially their own fault. For decades, Michiganders (or Michiganians if you prefer) have continued to elect one Democrat governor after another. As you may know, I am very much a Conservative and will have nothing to do with the Democrat or Republican parties whenever possible. The two are too much alike these days.
The politics of these parties does not benefit the state or it’s infrastructure, rather, it benefits the politicians, their personal agendas and pork-barrel special interest projects and groups. Enough already. In my view, only a Conservative candidate could have success in directing public funding towards that which would best serve the residents of Michigan. I sincerely hope that Michiganders will in the future, see to it that this proposed new span across the Detroit river will not be built until the needs of Michigan and it’s residents have been served.

And still Lansing wants to spend millions on just one bridge? More political ignorance on display.
