As I have said on these pages before, I believed from day one that Dave Bing would be a wonderful mayor for long suffering Detroit, Michigan. I have spent at least a bit of time in Detroit for sports, opera and outdoor events as well as stayed overnight. I have always found the people there to be friendly and pleasant.
I can say plenty of good things about the city. Former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, is now in custody for multiple charges both here and at the federal level. Sorry to say but that’s good news. At one hundred eighty degrees to that creep, Dave Bing has been nothing less than great for Detroit. He has had to make some very tough decisions but this goes with the job. Mayor Bing does his job instead of texting his mistress or misusing funds.
Recently, Mayor Bing fired his chief of police for doing something that was nothing short of ludicrous. Again, kudos to Mayor Bing for doing what needed to be done for the city and it’s residents. I sincerely hope that Mr. Bing will receive another term for doing a fine job in spite of the sometimes resistant city council and other groups in the city which refuse to let go of the old ways that have kept Detroit in a cycle of decay for decades.
