Good morning from the Great Lakes state. I have been preoccupied lately with work and play mixed with a dash of playing with Michigan Blog’s theme and look. I did some research on WordPress themes and what others who use WordPress have to say about it in general and the available themes. Let me tell you folks, there are thousands of themes available to use here, and a large majority of theme are totally free of charge. In this case, you will get what you pay for.
Sadly, too many of the free themes just plain old suck for one reason or another. They are overdone, gaudy or just plain old ugly as ugly is on an ape. Some theme authors have suggested recently that there is a trend developing within the WordPress community that shows a move toward “minimalist” themes. Simple, less busy looking themes that will focus the attention of visitors to the content more so than how “pretty” the website looks. I have to agree with this, and if you’ve been here before you know.
You know that I have been changing themes like a crazy man! Enough. How about I just leave this simple theme in place aye? One rather large, nasty glitch in my view with WordPress 2.9.2. to the current version 3.0 is that the site Admin, aka me, can no longer remove unwanted themes or plug-ins themselves. In my instance, I must contact my web host Hallie Web Design and have them remove the unwanted items. This is not the host’ fault. It’s simply the way it is and it stinks. Badly.
I despise being made to contact them to do something so damn simple that a little kid could figure out hoe to do it quickly. I can’t seem to find any manner of remedy for this situation within the WordPress.org website either. Gaaah!! Messing with this stuff is an addiction with me and when this crap happens I go berzerk. But I am nuts anyway, just ask the wife! Well anyway, the point is that I really do like this minimalist theme so it’s gonna stay stuck on the pages of Michigan Blog Dot Net.
In Other Local News:
I have been having a rough go of it at work this summer (my heart condition remembered) regarding the heat and humidity. Keep in mind I do understand that the humidity level here in Michigan is nothing like Florida of course, but it does need to be respected no less. There have been days I have had to simply go home and sit in the nice cool A/C of my house rather than have a heart attack. My employer is of course aware of my medical condition and will send me home when things get too hot for me to safely work. A nice thing really, to work for people who actually give a shit about their employees! A rare thing in America today, sadly.
Instead, I’ve been creeping about the edge of the wood around our house with machete’ in hand, cutting the bottom vines of those pesky grape and Virginia Creepers that are trying to choke our local trees to death. I really dislike these bloody vines and go after theme at least a couple times per summer. Those that I cut yesterday are well on their way to falling off the trees they were thriving on – hahahaha!! I like playing with those big knives too. Oh come on, it’s a joke man!

I do apologize to anyone who comes here and is turned off by my sometimes strongly worded comments on politics. I am indescribably sickened by the Obama administration with it’s willful disregard for the Constitution and the desires of those who employ these bastards – us! Can we turn the clock back two years to the days of George Bush, a president whom actually loved his country and people? No president or human is perfect, and no, GB didn’t cause hurricane Katrina. You liberal dopes!
Well, I guess this is enough for the moment. I have several small and insignificant items to take care of around here this fabulously sunny Saturday morning such as making sure that baby rabbit got out of my barn overnight. For now all is well here in my little ten acre world. Guess I’ll go crawl back in bed with the wife and watch her sleep which is something I love to do. They can’t all be “California girls”, Beach Boys, but I have my own little piece of California every day… And I say Amen.
