Our society has a rather skewed way of deciding if/and/or why certain substances should be legal for consumption or otherwise. Once we attain the age of 21 (or other age depending on where you are), you can legally purchase and consume alcohol if you so desire as long as you are responsible with said substance.

Being responsible with most anything dictates the need for common sense, a substance that seems in extreme short supply in the United States today, the current crop of crooks living in the White House today as a fine example. Too many have proven their total lack of smarts and common sense by killing themselves and/or others after consuming mass quantities of alcohol and then placing themselves behind the steering apparatus of a two-ton bullet, commonly known as a car or truck. Sometimes this vulgar crime is rewarded with a slap on the wrist by yet another idiot judge. But… The drug of choice was likely purchased legally.

Alcohol is legal for purchase as I see it, for one simple reason: money. Of course! It’s like the old Pink Floyd song and other songs have stated, that money is the root of all evil. State and local governmental agencies benefit from the sales of the liquid death and destroyer of lives. I ought to know, being a recovered alcoholic.

The Strait Dope:

Here comes another juicy factoid about myself you might like to know… I used to smoke a lot of herb. Myself along with gazillions who are still burning that midnight doober. I stopped smokin’ several years ago due to a bad heart, a sorry side-effect of too many “lost weekends” as a younger man. Next year sees me reaching the half-century milestone. Oh boy, what an effin’ thrill! This naturally causes me to have a bias toward pot.

What pisses me off here is that I know damned well that there are those in places and positions of authority who hold the belief that pot, also known by it’s stupid name “marijuana”, is the root of all evil, will cause you to run out onto the streets killing people or any other manner of ignorant ideas about using the substance.

As a former long-term user, I can assure you that I have never seen any person or friend “flip out” or go plain old nutter from smoking pot. I can guarantee though, that I have diminished memory capacity as I age. This is strictly my own fault. I blame me, unlike so many Americans who blame others and the world at large for everything and anything wrong in their lives. In retrospect, I’d have done things differently.

I am tired of the hypocrisy. I never saw “double” from toking. I never experienced the multitude of biological ills of drinking, while toking. I see the main reason along with a lack of understanding of what actually happens with toking, for the hostility toward tokers being money. You can grow the stuff virtually anyplace. The authorities can not control the substance as easily as alcohol, so by golly let’s take it down!

Pot has it’s own set of pluses and negatives, just as alcohol. I sincerely hope to see the end of the ignorance and the aura of paranoia and disgust surrounding pot vanish some day. Certainly, many will agree with this position while others will find such a position to be highly offensive and ignorant.

So be it, that’s just fine. Most everything I place on these pages is just my own two cents worth on the subject(s) which damages no one or anything at all in any way. Others don’t give a shit so why should I care!

See one of my gripes here that is directed at Sprint Mobile Internet. Do yourself a big flavor, avoid Sprint mobile. I’ll add more space for video down the road as it’s really simple to manipulate the video player coding to add more video. I upload almost all of my own content to avoid the copyright police.
